Would you like to learn how to shag dance?  The Outer Banks Shag Club will be at the Baum Center teaching shag dance basics to anyone who would like to learn the popular dance.  Shag was born on the beaches of North and South Carolina.  Quick and smooth, the dance rose in popularity in the 40’s as they twirled to “beach music”.  Shag is a fun and very social dance which makes it perfect for a beach party!  Al Douglass and Jeff Albarty from the Outer Banks Shag Club will be the dance instructors.  Al Douglass has been shag dancing since 2012 when he moved to the Outer Banks. Jeff Albarty has been shag dancing for 30 years since his time as a High School principal.

You do not need a partner to join the lessons and it is open to the public.  If you are interested in learning the dance, or wanting to get more exercise or if you are already in the shag club and you want to join in the fun and practice, come join us every Monday at 3:45 pm to 4:45 pm starting September 19th through October 24th.

For more information, please contact Al Douglass 215-605-7312.
